This gallery is placed in the modern area that borders the Francisco de Miranda Avenue between Altamira, La Floresta y Los Palos Grandes. For the exhibitions that are presented there, 230 square meters of colonial interior space are used, without any previous modification, distributing the pieces in an irregular and yet harmonious fashion. A memorial to Simon Bolivar, it's no surprise that great care is taken over the maintenance of his birthplace. The visitor can experience the past in the walls, rooms, interior yards, plants and decor. The house still holds family portraits and antique furniture. As an additional attraction, there are several magnificent epic paintings by Venezuelan artist Tito Salas.
This enclosure is the resting place of illustrious Venezuelans and an homenage to their memory. It was decreed the National Pantheon in 1875, after having been the Church of the Holy Trinity. Within this rather moving atmosphere, the visitor cannot help but observe and appreciate the epic paintings of Tito Salas on the ceiling, and the magnificent chandelier made of more than 4,000 pieces. The changing of the guards is also worth seeing.`
If you are looking foward to have a full view of the Venezuelan Andean scenery, this is a great place to visit: mountain peaks, fields, tons of fascinating Andean Vegetation, and beautiful lakes. I will recommend the Laguna Mucubaji, just off the highway between Barrinas and Merida, near Apartaderos. Although if you are not a true fan of nature you should stay at the hotel. 



The teleferico is one of newest and safest cable cars in world, built and operated by an Austrian company. The view during the assent and desent is amazing. At the top is ice skating an other attractions. The paved walkway along the mountain ridge is lined with beautiful flowers and populated with colorful tropical birds. A short 4X4 ride down to Galipan provides shopping for fresh fruits, local delicacies and horseback riding.
It is cold and windy at 7,000 feet above sea level. Be sure to check the weather before you go. On a clear day you can see forever, but somedays the peak is in the clouds the entire day.
