New Year's Day
The first day of Colombia's official annual holidays, New Year's Day, is primarily considered as a day of recovery from the wild, and often violent New Year's Eve festivities. Smaller street parties and public celebrations make this a calmer, safer and a pleasant time to be out. Bands playing traditional music and vendors selling traditional foods are what your are going to find on the streets. Many activities center around the Plaza de Bolivar.
Self-called a "park of the imagination," this museum offers children and adults the chance to play and learn at the same time. There are guided tours led by staff members, whose duty is to engage visitors in learning by doing. Each visitor is encouraged to participate in the interactive exhibits. The museum originated with an idea by former First Lady Marta Larraechea de Frei, and it was one of her last achievements while involved with the government.
