Zoo Garden
Located in the heart of Cerro San Cristóbal, this big park covers a sloping area of 4.5 hectares and houses more than 160 species, from mammals to birds and reptiles, all in separate enclosures. Native species like condors, pumas, pudus, black-necked swans are all worth mentioning, but the most popular ones without doubt are the monkeys, especially with children. You will also find lions, elefants, giraffes, hippopotamus, bears and tigers. An excellent place to share with your family and make the little ones in the troup happy!
The architect Emilio Jequier designed this beautiful palace and museum to replicate the Petit Palais of Paris. The palace now houses the Fine Arts Museum, one of the most important in the country and the oldest in South America. Inside the stately interior, visitors find around 2,700 paintings by foreign and Chilean artists, as well as interesting reproductions, sketches and sculptures. The museum also houses a large slide collection and an art library with more than 15,000 volumes, documents and archives. Entry is free on Sundays. Guided tours are available.

If you are looking foward to have a full view of the Venezuelan Andean scenery, this is a great place to visit: mountain peaks, fields, tons of fascinating Andean Vegetation, and beautiful lakes. I will recommend the Laguna Mucubaji, just off the highway between Barrinas and Merida, near Apartaderos. Although if you are not a true fan of nature you should stay at the hotel.
